.. time to build a new rig!
Just ordered the parts for a new build. It's been about 5 years since I built my current rig so I think it's proved its worth but i'm getting to the stage now where games are either running slow or just not running due to shader support on my Radeon. Or, worst of all, games that should be beautiful are being run in such low settings that they look ugly.
So... I started looking to upgrade but new graphics cards need new mobo's as they run on PCI-e and those mobo's need new RAM cos it's 240 pin now and so on and so forth so decided just to build a new rig and sell mine on.
SO arriving next week should be:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 - 2.4ghz
Asus P5B Deluxe/Wifi Mobo
2GB Corsair 6400 800mhz RAM
250gb WD SATA2 HD
Radeon X1950XT 256mb
Antec P150 Case
The usual DVD, floppy, soundcard etc
Hoping to overclock the cpu to 3ghz and crank up the settings on all my gaming goodness, though I don't think it'll help much with BF1942 or AHL
It's costing me about £800 all in as i'm re-using my monitor and speaker setup but once I get the money from selling on my current rig it's not costing all that much and if it lasts me another 5 years i'll be happy but with a little luck this one will be far more upgradable as the mobo is Quad Core compatible as well as crossfire capable.

heh heh, always loved those 'that time again' posts.
Will pick up 2142 once it's built and I have a rig capable of playing it without annoying me so you might see a bit more of me Mark et al who ventured into that forum of gaming.
Looking to find a team based game I can get into again cos I really do miss clan play or at least server based team play, offline games just don't hold my interest and the amount of time I still spend playing in the almost dead communities of AHL and BF1942 just reitterates how much I enjoyed my time within those games and in this clan.

Have added you Mark but no reply yet, had to settle for Qballio as Qball was taken. So far it seems ok, I quite like the badges etc but haven't mastered shooting without zooming yet and making newbs start without even grenades is just silly. Anyway i'll be playing it most nights until it annoys me or forever if that never happens :p
p.s this rig keeps handling everything I throw at it on max settings and i'm not even oc'ing it yet...
